Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has issued a strict order to the National Police Force to completely eliminate gangs from the base in order to maintain security, order, and social harmony, especially to effectively implement the order of Dr. Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.
On the occasion of the closing conference to summarise the results of the 2024 work and outline the future direction of the National Police on December 31, 2024, Sar Sokha asserted that the problem of gangs has caused great concern among the people, so it is necessary to cooperate with all relevant institutions to take the most stringent measures to suppress them without exception.
The Deputy Prime Minister said, “All law enforcement officials must work together to crack down on gangs.
Although we strictly enforce the law, in some capitals and provinces, they still exist, so I would like relevant authorities to review this work.”
In addition, Sokha recommended that certain locations that could cause unrest and insecurity, especially in tourist areas, be inspected to prevent negative influences in society. He also requested the participation of parents, guardians, and teachers in schools to cooperate in reporting cases of suspicion of their children being involved with bad characters.
In particular, the owners of the guesthouses must cooperate and provide information to the authorities immediately in case of seeing a group gathering to sleep at the guesthouse, so that the authorities can take urgent and professional measures or take timely measures to suppress the situation.
From a public forum on December 26, 2024, Prime Minister Hun Manet once again issued an order to continue to take strict legal measures without exception against gangs that incite violence against each other.
On the occasion of presiding over a graduation ceremony for more than 1,000 students of the University of Human Resources, Premier Hun Manet instructed the Ministry of Justice to study and conduct an experiment to impose harsher punishments on gangs that incite violence against each other after the prime minister realised that the current punishments were too light.
