Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that peace and political stability have been fundamental to Cambodia’s success in organising major sports events.
The premier spoke on Sunday at a friendly football match at Moradok Techo National Stadium to celebrate “Peace Day in Cambodia.”
The Prime Minister underlined that such achievements are not coincidental but a result of the sustained peace and stability that the nation has preserved over the past several decades.
He underscored, “Cambodia’s success in hosting these sporting events is not accidental but relies on the most critical factors—peace and political stability, which we have achieved and maintained over the years,”
If Cambodia were not at peace, even its 1956 grant of membership in the Olympics would have continued to face interruptions. Cambodia’s Olympic participation was suspended between 1970 and 1994 due to war.
