The Phnom Penh Gendarmerie in the Chroy Changvar district conducted a patrol at midnight on February 3, 2025, to prevent and suppress gang activity in the area. As a result, they apprehended 15 gang members (including one woman) who were congregating in groups and performing motorbike “wheelies” on public roads.
These ‘motorcycle gangsters’, who created chaos on the streets, were taken to the Phnom Penh Gendarmerie Headquarters for instruction.
Of the group, 14 gang members underwent administrative measures, which involved shaving their heads, engaging in sports, and carrying their motorcycles around the headquarters while shouting, “I am a motorcycle gangster. Don’t follow me. From now on, I will stop performing motorcycle ‘wheelies’.”
Seven motorcycles were confiscated and will be held for three months.
