Louts attack Phnom Penh monks


Police are seeking 3 yobs who beat monks at a Phnom Penh pagoda.

This shocking incident occurred at 1:00 am on February 6, 2025, in the compound of Wat Sambour Meas, Mal Village, Dangkor Sangkat, Dangkor District.

According to the monk’s statement, the victim was monitoring a burning tree.

Suddenly, a group of three teenagers riding an unmarked motorbike arrived at the temple.

They shouted at the monk, “Come closer, please.”

The teenagers then attacked the monk and, when 2 other monks came to intervene, the louts also attacked them.

The teenagers then fled the scene.

A short while later, two military police officers arrived at the scene and told the three monks to wait until morning to file a complaint at the Dangkor District Military Police Station.

When morning came, the three monks went to file a complaint with the Dangkor District Military Police Station so that the Military Police could investigate and punish the group of young people according to the law.

After receiving the complaint from the three monks, the military police arrived at the Sambour Meas Temple compound and searched for one suspect.

They took him to the Dangkor District Military Police Base for questioning.

The military police are currently searching for the other two suspects who are on the run.
