Por Sen Chey District authorities have launched a swathe of raids to crackdown on the menace of cockfighting, online lotteries, and betting sites at cafes, football tables, and bookmakers.
The raids were launched in many locations in Chom Chao 2 and Chom Chao 3 districts at 3:10 p.m. on February 18, 2025.
During the operation, the forces confiscated several computers and other equipment, and also advised all site owners to stop hosting gambling activities.
The first location was a soccer table in Ang Village, Chom Chao 3 Sangkat, where some balls and billiard cues were seized.
The second location was a shophouse in Borey Lay Kong, Prey Pring Tboung Village 2, Chom Chao 2 Sangkat, where two computers were seized.
The third location was a billiard house in Prey Leng Village, Chom Chao 2 Sangkat, where two computers were seized.
The fourth location was two coffee shops in Prey Lvea Village, Chom Chao 2 Sangkat, where six computers were seized. The fifth location was behind Cana City Market, Chom Chao 1 Village, Chom Chao 2 Sangkat, where one computer was seized.
The authorities further stated that all the locations secretly hosted gambling every day, which led residents to criticize the authorities for allowing the group to engage in illegal activities at will.
By implementing the policy of safe villages and communes, the authorities did not allow gambling unless they were aware of it, but if they were aware, they would crack down on it.
Meanwhile, the authorities also advised all the owners of the locations to stop running illegal gambling operations the next day, or they would be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.
