End of the line: Railway to Phnom Penh International Airport to be concreted over

The Phnom Penh Public Works and Transport Department, in collaboration with Royal Railway, will remove the steel bars and re-concrete the road currently occupied by the railway running to Phnom Penh International Airport.

The move comes after Ms. Koy Sodany, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, led a team on July 4, 2025, to personally inspect the location of the railway section connecting the main railway line to Phnom Penh International Airport built on Highway 105K, with the participation of leaders, the head of the Phnom Penh Department of Public Works and Transport, technical officers of the Railway Department, and representatives of Royal Railway.

The work will be completed in accordance with the technical standards for concrete roads.

To ensure the safety of citizens traveling on this road, the team will work day and night to complete the work as soon as possible.

At the same time, the team also inspected two railway crossings that are frequently dangerous, located in the Kob Srov Dam area, and Royal Railway agreed to adjust the slope of the railway crossings at both locations to make them better.
