Cambodia, Singapore Move to Sharpen Agricultural and Agribusiness Ties – វិមាន៧មករា

Cambodia and Singapore have pledged to deepen bilateral agricultural cooperation and expand trade, focusing on boosting Cambodian rice exports and introducing high-potential agribusiness commodities into the Singaporean market.

The commitment follows a high-level bilateral meeting on Oct. 29 in Singapore between H.E. Dith Tina, Cambodia’s Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and H.E. Grace Fu, Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment.

During the discussion, both ministers explored strategies to broaden trade channels and unlock new commercial pathways for Cambodian agricultural goods. Key commodities highlighted for expansion include cashew nuts, mangoes, bananas, durians, pepper, fresh vegetables, and livestock products.

Minister Dith Tina reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to international standards, underscoring the nation’s active participation in the global One Health initiative.

He emphasised that this framework strengthens food safety systems while enhancing the prevention and control of infectious diseases. He assured Singaporean officials of Cambodia’s growing capacity to deliver a reliable, high-quality, and compliant supply of agricultural produce to meet market demand.

Both sides agreed to continue exploring strategic avenues to advance agribusiness development, aiming to foster a more resilient, sustainable agricultural sector that supports economic growth and improves rural livelihoods in both nations.

On the sidelines of his official visit, Minister Dith Tina met separately with Mr. Winfried F. Wicklein, Director General for Agriculture, Food, Nature, Rural Development, Water, Urbanisation, and Digital at the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The two leaders reviewed the implementation progress of ongoing ADB-supported development initiatives across the Kingdom. They identified priority areas for future collaboration, agreeing to align ongoing technical and financial support closely with Cambodia’s strategic agricultural priorities to ensure long-term, sustainable impact.
