The National Police General Directorate has stated that over 200 foreigners, freed during a raid on illegal operations in on February 22 and 23, 2025, in raids at two locations in Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province, will be repatriated soon.
The raids in Samaki Meanchey Village, Poipet Sangkat, Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province, came after a 3 month investigation into the locations.

A spokesman for the National Police Chief confirmed that during the raid, authorities found 230 foreigners.
The foreigners were hiding and conducting illegal online transactions with a Chinese mastermind, living in normal conditions, and accepting the illegal work voluntarily.

After completing the procedure to identify foreigners by the General Department of Immigration, authorities found that out of 123 foreigners who claimed to be Thai citizens, only 119 were actually Thai, while the other four foreigners were two Laotians and two Myanmarese.
Based on the investigation of the competent authorities, all the foreigners who were arrested had traveled to the Kingdom of Cambodia, both legally and illegally, in order to find high-paying jobs.
They worked voluntarily and never asked any authorities, including their own government, for intervention to stop working or return to their countries, as Cambodian authorities have done in the past.

It is to be noted that because the activities of these foreigners are related to illegal online activities, using Cambodian territory to secretly operate in other countries, and since there has not been a specific complaint from any victim, Cambodian authorities will cooperate with foreign authorities in the countries of origin of these individuals to prepare procedures and deportation procedures.
Cambodia will soon hand over 119 Thai nationals (58 women) to the Thai side to continue the investigation according to the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand.
